Dr. Mae-Lynn Germany is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who provides psychotherapy, career counseling, and conducts psychological evaluations. She enjoys and has experience working with a broad range of presenting concerns.
Dr. Germany also specializes in working with trauma, grief and loss (both death and non-death), sex and sexuality, and college students (undergraduate, graduate, and medical). Dr. Germany has over 10 years of clinical experience working in a variety of settings including intensive outpatient services, behavioral health clinics, crisis hotline, private practice, and university counseling centers. She also has conducted psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults.
Regardless of presenting concern or the setting, Dr. Germany strives to co-construct a space with clients that is affirming across various dimensions of diversity. This includes various aspects of sexuality (including kink and non-monogamy), gender, race, and health status.
In addition to clinical work, Dr. Germany has years of experience in academic research within the fields of counseling psychology, cognitive science, education, leadership, and political science. Most of her recent research has centered around understanding what influences our experiences of grief outside of death-related loss, which ranges from devastating, life changing events to highly anticipated and celebrated events. In addition, her recent research has also explored ways of understanding, supporting, and affirming disenfranchised grief experiences, particularly as it relates to trans* folx. Dr. Germany graduated from the University of Memphis where she received her PhD in Counseling Psychology and completed her predoctoral APA-accredited internship in University Counseling Services at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2021. She holds a M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Anthropology from University of Memphis.
